Recyclekaro to Launch India’s First Plasma Furnace Technology Unit, Targeting Recycling Expansion Capacity to 75,000 MT per Year

Mumbai, 11th March 2024 – Recyclekaro, a prominent player in e-waste and lithium-ion battery recycling in India, is gearing up to introduce India’s first Plasma Furnace Technology Unit for the extraction of high-value metals. This ground-breaking advancement signifies a significant leap forward in recycling and resource recovery, positioning India at the forefront of innovation in environmental sustainability.

Plasma Furnace Technology leverages high-temperature plasma arcs to efficiently extract valuable metals from diverse waste streams. Unlike conventional methods that may pose environmental risks, this technology offers a cleaner, more sustainable approach to metal extraction. Recyclekaro’s state-of-the-art unit, currently boasting a capacity of 7500 metric tonnes, retrieves precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, along with rare earth metals from electronic waste and industrial residues. With the installation of the new plasma furnace, Recyclekaro’s e-waste recycling capacity is set to increase nearly tenfold to 75,000 metric tonnes per annum.

Given China’s current dominance, accounting for around 85% of rare earth elements (REE) production, Recyclekaro is aiming to make a notable contribution to rare earth elements production, with plans to achieve up to 1 to 1.5 MT per annum.

Speaking on this launch, Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Founder and Director of Recyclekaro, commented, “The introduction of India’s first Plasma Furnace Technology Unit will represent a significant leap forward in our mission to revolutionize waste management and resource recovery. This innovative technology will help extract rare earth metals from already generated e-waste, help us conserve resources, and reduce our dependency on imports.”

Plasma Furnace Technology generates high temperatures between 5000 to 1000 degrees Celsius, facilitating faster processing times and higher metal recovery rates compared to traditional methods. With an expected 90% increase in efficiency and productivity, this environmentally friendly technology aligns with Recyclekaro’s sustainability objectives and regulatory standards.

The Plasma Furnace Technology Unit will feature cutting-edge machinery, ensuring cost-effective and eco-friendly operations while complying with stringent environmental and safety standards. This advancement will not only present economic opportunities for India but also contribute to the circular economy, job creation, and technological innovation.
